RSS Feed to Email Digest Workflow

This n8n workflow allows you to convert any RSS feed into a daily or scheduled email digest. It automatically fetches new items from an RSS feed, formats them, and sends them as an email.

What it does

This workflow automates the following steps:

1. Triggers on a Schedule: The workflow is set to run periodically (e.g., daily, hourly) to check for new RSS feed items.
2. Reads RSS Feed: It connects to a specified RSS feed URL and fetches the latest entries.
3. Processes RSS Items: Each item from the RSS feed is processed individually.
4. Filters (Conditional Logic): An "If" node is present, suggesting a conditional check on the RSS items. This could be used to filter items based on keywords, date, or other criteria before sending an email.
5. Transforms Data: A "Set" node is included, which is typically used to rename, add, or remove fields from the data, preparing it for the email content.
6. Splits Items for Individual Processing: The "Split In Batches" node indicates that if multiple RSS items are found, they will be processed in batches or individually, which is useful for sending separate emails or compiling a digest.
7. Sends Email: The "Gmail" node is configured to send emails, presumably containing the RSS feed content.
8. No Operation: A "No Operation" node is present, which might be a placeholder or used for debugging, indicating a path where no action is taken.
9. Sticky Note: A "Sticky Note" is included for documentation within the workflow itself, providing context or instructions.

Prerequisites/Requirements

• n8n Instance: A running instance of n8n.
• RSS Feed URL: The URL of the RSS feed you wish to monitor.
• Gmail Account: A configured Gmail credential in n8n to send emails. Alternatively, you can replace the Gmail node with any other email service supported by n8n (e.g., SendGrid, SMTP).

Setup/Usage

1. Import the Workflow:
   • Copy the provided JSON code.
   • In your n8n instance, go to "Workflows" and click "New".
   • Click the "Import from JSON" button and paste the copied JSON.
2. Configure Credentials:
   • Locate the "Gmail" node.
   • Click on the "Credential" field and select an existing Gmail OAuth2 credential or create a new one. Follow the n8n documentation for setting up Gmail credentials if needed.
3. Configure RSS Feed:
   • Locate the "RSS Read" node.
   • Enter the URL of the RSS feed you want to use in the "URL" field.
4. Configure Email Content (Optional):
   • Adjust the "Edit Fields (Set)" node to format the RSS item data as desired for your email. You can define the subject, body, and other email fields here.
   • Modify the "Gmail" node to customize the email's recipient, subject, and body using expressions from the previous nodes.
5. Configure Schedule:
   • Locate the "Schedule Trigger" node.
   • Adjust the trigger settings (e.g., "Mode", "Value") to define how often you want the workflow to run (e.g., daily, every few hours).
6. Activate the Workflow:
   • Once configured, save the workflow and activate it by toggling the "Active" switch in the top right corner of the workflow editor.

The workflow will now run on your defined schedule, fetch new RSS items, and send them to your specified email address.
