What it is- I wanted to create a simple, easy-to-use, MCP server for your Discord bot(s).

How to set up- Literally all you do is select your bot auth (or crease a new Discord Bot auth if you havn't entered your key in n8n before) and that's IT!

How to use it- You can now ask your bot to do things via any MCP client, including from within N8N workflows!

Setup/Usage

  1. Import the workflow: Import the provided JSON into your n8n instance.
  2. Configure the MCP Server Trigger:
    • The "MCP Server Trigger" node is pre-configured to listen for incoming requests. You may need to ensure your n8n instance is accessible by your MCP Server and that the webhook URL generated by n8n for this trigger is correctly configured in your MCP Server.
    • No specific credentials are required within this n8n workflow itself, as it acts as a passive listener for the MCP Server.
  3. Extend the workflow: This workflow currently only triggers. To make it functional for controlling a Discord bot, you would need to add subsequent nodes to:
    • Parse the data received from the MCP Server trigger.
    • Use a Discord node (or another relevant service node) to perform actions based on the parsed natural language command.
    • Handle error cases or provide feedback.
