n8n Workflow: Automate WordPress/WooCommerce Content with OpenAI Reviews, Comments, and Updates

This n8n workflow provides a framework for automating content generation and updates for WordPress and WooCommerce, leveraging OpenAI for generating reviews, comments, or other text-based content. It allows for manual or scheduled execution to create or update posts on your WordPress site.

What it does

This workflow outlines the following key steps:

  1. Manual Trigger: Initiates the workflow manually, useful for testing or one-off content generation.
  2. Scheduled Trigger: Can be configured to run the workflow at specified intervals (e.g., daily, weekly) for continuous content updates.
  3. OpenAI Content Generation: Utilizes OpenAI to generate text content. This could be product reviews, blog post drafts, comments, or other textual updates based on prompts you define within the OpenAI node.
  4. Edit Fields (Set): Prepares and formats the data generated by OpenAI, mapping it to the structure required by WordPress. This might involve setting titles, content, categories, or other post metadata.
  5. WordPress Post/Update: Publishes the prepared content to your WordPress or WooCommerce site. This node can create new posts, update existing ones, or even add comments, depending on its configuration.
  6. HTTP Request (Placeholder): An additional HTTP Request node is present, which could be used for various purposes such as fetching external data, sending notifications, or interacting with other APIs not directly supported by dedicated n8n nodes.
  7. Sticky Note: A sticky note is included for documentation or instructions within the workflow itself.

Prerequisites/Requirements

To use this workflow, you will need:

  • n8n Instance: A running n8n instance.
  • OpenAI API Key: An API key for OpenAI to access its language model capabilities.
  • WordPress/WooCommerce Site: Access to a WordPress or WooCommerce site with appropriate user credentials (username and application password for API access).

Setup/Usage

  1. Import the Workflow:
    • Download the provided JSON file.
    • In your n8n instance, click on "Workflows" in the left sidebar.
    • Click "New" and then "Import from JSON".
    • Paste the workflow JSON content or upload the file.
  2. Configure Credentials:
    • OpenAI Node: Edit the "OpenAI" node. You will need to set up an OpenAI credential with your API key.
    • WordPress Node: Edit the "WordPress" node. You will need to set up a WordPress credential, providing your WordPress URL, username, and an application password.
  3. Customize OpenAI Prompt:
    • In the "OpenAI" node, configure the prompt to generate the specific type of content you need (e.g., "Write a positive review for a coffee mug," "Generate a blog post about sustainable living," "Create 3 comments for a product").
  4. Map Data with Edit Fields:
    • Adjust the "Edit Fields (Set)" node to correctly map the output from the OpenAI node to the input fields expected by the WordPress node (e.g., {{ $json.choices[0].message.content }} to Content, Title, etc.).
  5. Configure WordPress Node:
    • In the "WordPress" node, specify the operation (e.g., "Create Post," "Update Post," "Create Comment") and the resource (e.g., "Post," "Product," "Comment"). Map the fields from the "Edit Fields" node to the corresponding WordPress fields.
  6. Configure Trigger:
    • Choose your desired trigger:
      • Manual Trigger: For immediate execution.
      • Schedule Trigger: Configure the interval (e.g., every day at 9 AM) for automated runs.
  7. Activate the Workflow: Once configured, activate the workflow by toggling the "Active" switch in the top right corner of the workflow editor.

This workflow serves as a powerful starting point for automating various content-related tasks on your WordPress and WooCommerce platforms using AI.

If AI returns non-JSON, keep “Return only a JSON array” as the last line of the prompt and keep jsonOutput enabled. Consider adding validation on parsing.warnings to gate Salesforce writes. For discounts/taxes in OLI: Standard OLI fields don’t support per-line discount amounts directly; model them in UnitPrice or custom fields. Replace the Composite API URL with your org’s domain or use the Salesforce node’s Bulk Upsert for simplicity.
