Scan URLs with urlscan.io and Send Results via Gmail
This n8n workflow automates the process of scanning URLs using urlscan.io and then sending the scan results via email using Gmail. It's designed to provide a simple way to initiate a URL scan and receive a summary directly in your inbox.
What it does
- Receives a URL: The workflow starts with a Webhook trigger, waiting for an incoming HTTP request containing the URL to be scanned.
- Initiates urlscan.io Scan: It then uses the urlscan.io node to submit the received URL for a security scan.
- Waits for Scan Completion: A "Wait" node pauses the workflow for a specified duration to allow urlscan.io to complete the scan and generate results.
- Sends Scan Results via Gmail: Finally, it compiles the scan results (or a summary/link to them) and sends an email using Gmail to a predefined recipient.
Prerequisites/Requirements
- n8n Instance: A running n8n instance.
- Gmail Account: A configured Gmail credential in n8n to send emails.
- urlscan.io API Key: A urlscan.io credential configured in n8n.
Setup/Usage
- Import the Workflow: Import the provided JSON into your n8n instance.
- Configure Credentials:
- Gmail: Set up your Gmail OAuth2 or API Key credential in n8n.
- urlscan.io: Set up your urlscan.io API Key credential in n8n.
- Activate the Webhook: Once imported, activate the Webhook node. n8n will provide a unique URL for this webhook.
- Trigger the Workflow: Send an HTTP POST request to the Webhook URL with the URL you want to scan in the request body (e.g., as part of a JSON payload).
- Configure Gmail Node: Update the Gmail node with the recipient email address, subject, and the content of the email, referencing the data from the urlscan.io node to include scan results.
- Adjust Wait Time: Modify the "Wait" node's duration if urlscan.io scans typically take longer or shorter than the default.
