n8n Workflow: Smartlead Sheet Sync - Auto-Capture Client Inquiries to Google Sheets
This n8n workflow automates the process of capturing client inquiries or lead data received via a webhook and systematically recording it into a Google Sheet. It's designed to streamline the intake of new data, ensuring that all relevant information is consistently logged for further processing or analysis.
What it does
This workflow performs the following key steps:
- Listens for Incoming Data: It starts by waiting for an incoming POST request to a defined webhook URL. This webhook acts as the entry point for new client inquiries or lead data.
- Processes Incoming Data: The received data from the webhook is then processed by a Code node. This node is responsible for transforming and structuring the data into a format suitable for Google Sheets.
- Appends to Google Sheet: Finally, the structured data is appended as a new row to a specified Google Sheet. This ensures that every incoming inquiry is automatically recorded.
Prerequisites/Requirements
To use this workflow, you will need:
- n8n Instance: A running instance of n8n.
- Google Account: A Google account with access to Google Sheets.
- Google Sheets Credential in n8n: You will need to set up a Google Sheets OAuth2 or Service Account credential within your n8n instance to allow the workflow to write to your Google Sheets.
- Webhook Source: An external system or application configured to send POST requests with client inquiry data to the n8n webhook URL.
Setup/Usage
- Import the Workflow:
- Download the provided JSON file.
- In your n8n instance, click on "Workflows" in the left sidebar.
- Click "New" -> "Import from JSON" and paste the workflow JSON or upload the file.
- Configure the Webhook Trigger:
- Locate the "Webhook" node (Node ID: 47).
- Click on it to open its settings.
- The "Webhook URL" will be generated automatically once the workflow is activated. Copy this URL.
- Configure your external system (e.g., a form submission, an API endpoint from Smartlead, etc.) to send POST requests to this URL whenever a new client inquiry is made.
- Configure the Code Node:
- Locate the "Code" node (Node ID: 834).
- Open its settings to review or modify the JavaScript code. This code is responsible for taking the incoming webhook data and mapping it to the columns you expect in your Google Sheet. You might need to adjust the
item.jsonstructure to match your incoming data and desired Google Sheet columns.
- Configure the Google Sheets Node:
- Locate the "Google Sheets" node (Node ID: 18).
- Select your Google Sheets credential. If you haven't set one up, create a new OAuth2 or Service Account credential for Google Sheets.
- Specify the Spreadsheet ID of your target Google Sheet.
- Specify the Sheet Name within that spreadsheet where the data should be appended.
- Ensure the "Operation" is set to "Append Row".
- The "Value Input" should be set to "Raw" and the "Value" field should reference the output of the Code node, typically something like
={{ $json.data }}if your Code node outputs a single object, or={{ $json }}if it outputs an array of objects.
- Activate the Workflow:
- Once all configurations are complete, click the "Activate" toggle in the top right corner of the n8n editor to enable the workflow.
Now, whenever a POST request is sent to your webhook URL, the data will be processed and automatically added as a new row to your Google Sheet.
