Setup

- Connect your Gmail and Google Tasks accounts to n8n using OAuth2 credentials.

- Listening for new emails: It continuously monitors your Gmail inbox for new emails.
- Filtering by label: It specifically looks for emails that have a particular label applied (e.g., "Task").
- Creating a Google Task: For each email matching the criteria, it automatically creates a new task in your Google Tasks list, using information from the email.
Prerequisites/Requirements
To use this workflow, you will need:
- n8n Account: A running instance of n8n (cloud or self-hosted).
- Google Account: A Google account with access to Gmail and Google Tasks.
- Gmail Credential: An n8n credential configured for your Google account with access to Gmail.
- Google Tasks Credential: An n8n credential configured for your Google account with access to Google Tasks.
Setup/Usage
- Import the workflow:
- Download the provided JSON file.
- In your n8n instance, go to "Workflows" and click "New".
- Click the "Import from JSON" button and paste the workflow JSON or upload the file.
- Configure Credentials:
- Locate the "Gmail Trigger" node and the "Google Tasks" node.
- For each node, click on the "Credential" field and select your existing Google OAuth2 credential. If you don't have one, click "Create New" and follow the instructions to connect your Google account, ensuring you grant permissions for both Gmail and Google Tasks.
- Configure Gmail Label:
- In the "Gmail Trigger" node, open its settings.
- Under the "Label" field, specify the Gmail label you want to use to trigger task creation (e.g.,
Task,_to_do). Make sure this label exists in your Gmail account.
- Configure Google Tasks:
- In the "Google Tasks" node, open its settings.
- Configure the "Task List" where you want the new tasks to be created.
- Adjust the "Title" and "Notes" fields to pull relevant data from the incoming Gmail email. By default, it might use expressions like

- Activate the workflow:
- Click the "Activate" toggle in the top right corner of the workflow editor.
Now, whenever you apply the specified label to an email in Gmail, this workflow will automatically create a corresponding task in Google Tasks.
