This is a simple template to show how to extract multiple email attachments and return them as an iterable output.

How it works:

The Gmail Trigger node detects any new email that has attachments. The Code node will then extract them as binary files and attaches them to the item. They can then be uploaded via the Google Drive node.

Setup steps:

Get Multiple Attachments from Gmail and Upload to Google Drive

This n8n workflow automates the process of extracting attachments from incoming Gmail emails and uploading them to your Google Drive. It's designed to simplify document management and ensure important files are automatically saved and organized.

What it does

This workflow performs the following steps:

  1. Monitors Gmail: It acts as a trigger, listening for new emails in your Gmail inbox.
  2. Processes Email Data: It takes the incoming email data from Gmail.
  3. Uploads Attachments to Google Drive: It then uploads any attachments found in the email to a specified folder in your Google Drive.

Prerequisites/Requirements

  • n8n Instance: A running instance of n8n.
  • Gmail Account: A Gmail account configured with n8n credentials.
  • Google Drive Account: A Google Drive account configured with n8n credentials.

Setup/Usage

  1. Import the workflow: Import the provided JSON into your n8n instance.
  2. Configure Gmail Trigger:
    • Click on the "Gmail Trigger" node.
    • Select your existing Gmail credential or create a new one.
    • Configure the trigger settings (e.g., labels to monitor, unread emails only) as per your requirements.
  3. Configure Google Drive Node:
    • Click on the "Google Drive" node.
    • Select your existing Google Drive credential or create a new one.
    • Set the "Operation" to "Upload".
    • In the "File Name" field, you'll likely want to reference the attachment's original name. This workflow uses a "Function" node to prepare the data for Google Drive upload.
    • In the "Folder ID" field, specify the ID of the Google Drive folder where you want to save the attachments. If left blank, it will upload to the root.
  4. Configure Function Node (if present):
    • The "Function" node (ID 14) is typically used for data manipulation between nodes. In this workflow, it's implicitly handling the transformation of Gmail attachment data into a format suitable for the Google Drive node. You might need to inspect its code if you encounter issues or want to customize how attachment data is handled (e.g., renaming files, filtering specific attachments).
  5. Activate the workflow: Once configured, activate the workflow to start monitoring your Gmail for new emails and automatically uploading their attachments.
