Get ==Instant== Alerts When Your Website Goes Down — Using ==n8n== as ==Website Downtime Checker Robot==

If you manage websites (your own or clients’), downtime alerts are critical.
But most monitoring tools create alert fatigue — ==emails for every tiny hiccup==, even 30–60 second outages. This setup shows how to use n8n as a smart uptime monitor:
 ✅ No extra subscriptions
 ✅ No false-positive spam
✅ Alerts only for real downtime
 ✅ Optional instant phone notifications

Why Use n8n for Website Monitoring? Traditional tools like Uptime Robot become limiting or expensive as you scale. With n8n, you get:

  • Full control over alert logic
  • Custom timing & thresholds
  • No forced notification rules
  • One tool for uptime and other automations You decide when, how, and why alerts are sent.

Toggle it on — monitoring runs automatically.
  2. Test instantly
Add a fake or non-existent URL and run the workflow.

How It Works

  • Create a Telegram bot via BotFather
  • Add the bot token & chat ID to n8n
  • Receive downtime alerts instantly on your phone No missed notifications. No noise.

FAQ

  • Can I monitor unlimited sites?
 > ==Yes== — just add more URLs.

  • What about short downtime (seconds)? > Filtered out by the 5-minute wait.

  • Do I need a paid n8n plan?
 > ==No.== Self-hosting is ==free==, and this works on free plans.

  • Why not SMS or WhatsApp?
 > Telegram is ==faster, simpler, and doesn’t require paid APIs.==

Website Downtime Monitoring with Smart Alerts via Telegram & Email

This n8n workflow provides a robust solution for monitoring website availability and sending smart alerts through multiple channels (Telegram and Email) when downtime is detected. It's designed to keep you informed immediately if your website goes offline, helping you react quickly to potential issues.

What it does

  1. Schedules Checks: Periodically triggers to perform website status checks.
  2. Monitors Website Status: Makes an HTTP request to a specified website URL to check its availability.
  3. Determines Alert Type: Uses a "Switch" node to determine if the website is "UP" or "DOWN" based on the HTTP response.
  4. Sends Downtime Alerts (Telegram): If the website is "DOWN", it sends an immediate alert message to a configured Telegram chat.
  5. Sends Downtime Alerts (Email): If the website is "DOWN", it also sends an email notification with details about the downtime.
  6. Waits Before Retrying (Downtime): After sending a downtime alert, it waits for a specified period before potentially re-checking or preventing alert spam.
  7. Sends Uptime Alerts (Telegram): If the website is "UP" after a previous "DOWN" state, it sends an uptime notification to Telegram.
  8. Sends Uptime Alerts (Email): Similarly, if the website is "UP", it sends an email notification confirming the website is back online.
  9. Manages Data for Alerts: Uses "Edit Fields (Set)" and "Split Out" nodes to prepare and format the data for the alert messages.
  10. Merges Data: Combines the output from different branches (e.g., after waiting) to ensure a continuous flow.

Prerequisites/Requirements

  • n8n Instance: A running instance of n8n.
  • Website URL: The URL of the website you wish to monitor.
  • Telegram Bot Token & Chat ID: A Telegram bot configured with a bot token and the chat ID where you want to receive alerts.
  • SMTP Credentials: An email account (SMTP server, port, username, password) configured to send emails.

Setup/Usage

  1. Import the Workflow:
    • Copy the provided JSON code.
    • In your n8n instance, click on "Workflows" in the left sidebar.
    • Click "New" -> "Import from JSON" and paste the workflow JSON.
  2. Configure Credentials:
    • Locate the "Send Email" node and configure your SMTP credentials.
    • Locate the "Telegram" node and configure your Telegram Bot Token and Chat ID.
  3. Customize Website URL:
    • Find the "HTTP Request" node.
    • Update the URL field with the website you want to monitor.
  4. Adjust Schedule:
    • Modify the "Schedule Trigger" node to set how frequently you want the website to be checked (e.g., every 5 minutes, hourly).
  5. Customize Alert Messages:
    • Review the "Edit Fields (Set)" nodes connected to the Telegram and Email nodes to customize the content of your alert messages.
  6. Activate the Workflow:
    • Once configured, activate the workflow by toggling the "Active" switch in the top right corner of the workflow editor.

Two-way property repair management system with Google Sheets & Drive

This workflow automates the repair request process between tenants and building managers, keeping all updates organized in a single spreadsheet. It is composed of two coordinated workflows, as two separate triggers are required — one for new repair submissions and another for repair updates. A Unique Unit ID that corresponds to individual units is attributed to each request, and timestamps are used to coordinate repair updates with specific requests. General use cases include: Property managers who manage multiple buildings or units. Building owners looking to centralize tenant repair communication. Automation builders who want to learn multi-trigger workflow design in n8n. --- ⚙️ How It Works Workflow 1 – New Repair Requests Behind the Scenes: A tenant fills out a Google Form (“Repair Request Form”), which automatically adds a new row to a linked Google Sheet. Steps: Trigger: Google Sheets rowAdded – runs when a new form entry appears. Extract & Format: Collects all relevant form data (address, unit, urgency, contacts). Generate Unit ID: Creates a standardized identifier (e.g., BUILDING-UNIT) for tracking. Email Notification: Sends the building manager a formatted email summarizing the repair details and including a link to a Repair Update Form (which activates Workflow 2). --- Workflow 2 – Repair Updates Behind the Scenes:\ Triggered when the building manager submits a follow-up form (“Repair Update Form”). Steps: Lookup by UUID: Uses the Unit ID from Workflow 1 to find the existing row in the Google Sheet. Conditional Logic: If photos are uploaded: Saves each image to a Google Drive folder, renames files consistently, and adds URLs to the sheet. If no photos: Skips the upload step and processes textual updates only. Merge & Update: Combines new data with existing repair info in the same spreadsheet row — enabling a full repair history in one place. --- 🧩 Requirements Google Account (for Forms, Sheets, and Drive) Gmail/email node connected for sending notifications n8n credentials configured for Google API access --- ⚡ Setup Instructions (see more detail in workflow) Import both workflows into n8n, then copy one into a second workflow. Change manual trigger in workflow 2 to a n8n Form node. Connect Google credentials to all nodes. Update spreadsheet and folder IDs in the corresponding nodes. Customize email text, sender name, and form links for your organization. Test each workflow with a sample repair request and a repair update submission. --- 🛠️ Customization Ideas Add Slack or Telegram notifications for urgent repairs. Auto-create folders per building or unit for photo uploads. Generate monthly repair summaries using Google Sheets triggers. Add an AI node to create summaries/extract relevant repair data from repair request that include long submissions.

If AI returns non-JSON, keep “Return only a JSON array” as the last line of the prompt and keep jsonOutput enabled. Consider adding validation on parsing.warnings to gate Salesforce writes. For discounts/taxes in OLI: Standard OLI fields don’t support per-line discount amounts directly; model them in UnitPrice or custom fields. Replace the Composite API URL with your org’s domain or use the Salesforce node’s Bulk Upsert for simplicity.
