Overview

This n8n template automates the generation of local business leads by scraping Google Maps. It goes beyond basic search results by visiting individual business pages to extract detailed contact information, reviews, and attributes (like LGBTQ+ friendly status). It includes built-in deduplication against a Google Sheet to ensure you only receive alerts for new leads.

Who is this for?

  • Marketing Agencies: Finding local clients for services.
  • Sales Teams: Building lists of prospects in specific cities.
  • Recruiters: Finding businesses in specific niches.
  • Researchers: Gathering data on local business landscapes.

What problems it solves

  • Manual Data Entry: Eliminates the need to copy-paste business details from Maps.
  • Duplicate Leads: Automatically checks against your database to prevent duplicate entries.
  • Incomplete Data: Performs a "deep scrape" to get data often missing from list views (websites, full phone numbers, reviews).
  • Delayed Action: Sends instant alerts via Gmail and Slack so you can act on new leads immediately.

How it works

  1. Input: Takes a city name via a form (or can be scheduled).
  2. Search: Uses ScrapeOps to search Google Maps for your target keyword (e.g., "Dentist").
  3. Deep Extraction: Visits each business profile to scrape phone numbers, websites, ratings, and reviews.
  4. Validation: Compares found businesses with your existing Google Sheet database.
  5. Action: Saves new leads to the sheet and notifies you via Gmail and Slack.

Set up steps (~ 10-15 minutes)

  1. ScrapeOps Account: Register for a free API key at ScrapeOps.
  2. Google Sheet:
    • Create a new Google Sheet.
    • Add these headers: businessName, phone, website, rating, totalReviews, address, city, category, mapUrl, status, checkedAt, lgbtqFriendly, review1, review2, review3.
    • Or duplicate this Template Sheet.
  3. Configure Nodes:
    • Set Google Maps Configuration: Set your keyword (e.g., "dentist", "plumber").
    • Google Sheets Nodes: Connect your account and select the sheet you created.
    • Gmail & Slack Nodes: Update with your email address and Slack channel.

Pre-conditions

  • An n8n instance (Cloud or Self-hosted).
  • A ScrapeOps API Key (Free tier available).
  • Google Cloud Console project with Gmail and Sheets APIs enabled (for credentials).

n8n Form to Google Sheets & Notifications Workflow

This n8n workflow provides a streamlined solution for capturing data submitted via an n8n form, recording it into a Google Sheet, and sending notifications to both Slack and Gmail. It's ideal for lead generation, feedback collection, or any scenario where you need to quickly log form submissions and alert relevant teams or individuals.

What it does

This workflow automates the following steps:

  1. Triggers on Form Submission: It waits for data submitted through a public n8n form.
  2. Prepares Data: It processes the incoming form data, specifically extracting the "Email" field.
  3. Records to Google Sheets: It appends the submitted data (including the extracted email) as a new row in a specified Google Sheet.
  4. Sends Slack Notification: It posts a message to a designated Slack channel, informing about the new form submission.
  5. Sends Gmail Notification: It sends an email notification to a specified recipient (likely an internal team or individual) about the new form submission.

Prerequisites/Requirements

To use this workflow, you will need:

  • n8n Instance: A running n8n instance to import and execute the workflow.
  • Google Sheets Account: A Google account with access to Google Sheets. You will need to create a new Google Sheets credential in n8n.
  • Slack Account: A Slack workspace. You will need to create a new Slack credential in n8n.
  • Gmail Account: A Google account with access to Gmail. You will need to create a new Google (Gmail) credential in n8n.

Setup/Usage

  1. Import the Workflow:
    • Download the provided JSON file.
    • In your n8n instance, go to "Workflows" and click "New".
    • Click the "Import from JSON" button and paste the workflow JSON or upload the file.
  2. Configure Credentials:
    • Google Sheets: Locate the "Google Sheets" node (Node ID: 18). Click on it, then click "Create New Credential" or select an existing Google Sheets credential. Follow the authentication steps to grant n8n access to your Google Sheets.
    • Slack: Locate the "Slack" node (Node ID: 40). Click on it, then click "Create New Credential" or select an existing Slack credential. Follow the authentication steps to grant n8n access to your Slack workspace. You will also need to specify the Slack Channel where notifications should be sent.
    • Gmail: Locate the "Gmail" node (Node ID: 356). Click on it, then click "Create New Credential" or select an existing Gmail credential. Follow the authentication steps to grant n8n access to your Gmail account. You will also need to specify the recipient email address for notifications.
  3. Configure the n8n Form Trigger:
    • Locate the "On form submission" node (Node ID: 1225).
    • This node automatically generates a public URL for your form. You can customize the form fields and appearance within this node.
  4. Configure Google Sheet Details:
    • In the "Google Sheets" node (Node ID: 18), specify the Spreadsheet ID and Sheet Name where you want the data to be appended.
  5. Activate the Workflow:
    • Once all credentials and configurations are set, click the "Activate" toggle in the top right corner of the n8n editor to enable the workflow.

Now, any submission to the public n8n form will trigger the workflow, adding the data to your Google Sheet and sending out notifications to Slack and Gmail.

If AI returns non-JSON, keep “Return only a JSON array” as the last line of the prompt and keep jsonOutput enabled. Consider adding validation on parsing.warnings to gate Salesforce writes. For discounts/taxes in OLI: Standard OLI fields don’t support per-line discount amounts directly; model them in UnitPrice or custom fields. Replace the Composite API URL with your org’s domain or use the Salesforce node’s Bulk Upsert for simplicity.
